    26-01-2022:Governor honored the BRO personnel with the Governor’s Medal for their excellent work.

    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) felicitated the personnel of Border Roads Organization (BRO) with the Governor’s Medal for their outstanding work at the BRO Karmayogi Excellence Award ceremony held at Raj Bhawan on the occasion of Republic Day. Capt Anjana, Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil) Vishnumaya K, Junior Engineer (Civil) Abhishek Dev, Lower Division Clerk Sharli PT, Pioneer Sunita Devi, Capt K Selva Kumar, Junior Engineer Civil Sanju Ashish Kujur, OEM Sunil Kumar J, Skilled Laborer Narendra Singh, Laborer Pushpa Devi was awarded Governor’s Medals by the Governor for their complete devotion to duty and distinguished service. Project STF Hirak awarded with Governor’s Appreciation Letter. 765 Border Road Task Force Dharchula, Uttarakhand Project by STF Hirak worked for Reconstruction, maintenance of roads and bridges at Ghatiya Bagad Lipulekh, Gunji Kutti Lipulekh Pass via Jolikong, Dharma, Chaudas, Ghats Pithoragarh Tawaghat Roads and many such difficult challenging places and expanded. The 14th Battalion Dogra Regiment was also awarded the Governor’s Appreciation Letter. They played an important role in saving the lives of local residents and tourists under Operation Rahat in October 2021 in Nainital and surrounding area due to landslides, floods and other catastrophic disasters. Thousands of people were evacuated to safe places by their brave soldiers, saving the invaluable lives of local residents and tourists by risking their lives. Addressing the program, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that I feel honored to facilitate BRO personnel, especially women personnel. It is a moment of great honor and pride for me. I hope these brave women will inspire all the women of the country. I would like to congratulate BRO for giving the command of RCC to women officers for the first time.

    The Governor said that the brave women’s participation in the BRO are an excellent example of the right to equality given to men and women in the Constitution of India. These women have changed the thinking of the society. In such difficult geographical conditions, these courageous women are carrying out difficult tasks like road construction in the marginal areas. Because we are a marginal state. Our responsibilities are different. We have an important role in protecting our borders. Soldiers are deployed in difficult conditions on the borders.The construction of roads in the marginal areas will make it easier to stop the local population there.

    Chief Secretary Dr S S Sandhu, DGP Shri Ashok Kumar and other dignitaries were also present on the occasion
