8-03-2021 : Governor felicitated the women frontline workers of District Dehradun and Haridwar

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya honored 51 frontline women Corona Warriors of Dehradun and Haridwar districts at Raj Bhavan on Monday in honor of women who did excellent work during the COVID-19 pandemic. The frontline women corona warriors to be honored included police department, self-help groups, municipal scavengers, representatives of social organizations, health workers. 14 Paryavaran Mitras from Municipal Corporation Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, 11 health workers from Health Department, 10 women constables from Police Department and 16 women from Self Help Groups were honored.
Addressing the program, Governor Smt. Maurya said that during the Korana period, a large proportion of frontline workers were women. Women health workers, nurses, women sanitation workers, ASHA workers, women police personnel made important contributions in this critical period with full sensitivity. These frontline women workers are the foundation of our society. Governor Smt. Maurya said that it is necessary to boost the morale of women so that they can face various social challenges with courage. He said that women should be proud of their being women. In India, women are considered a symbol of power. She is worshiped as a goddess. The struggling life of working women is inspiring. They are working very hard for employment as well as fulfilling the responsibilities of their family, children.
Governor Smt. Maurya requested that women should pay special attention to the education of their children, especially daughters. Give them good manners. Always encourage them to achieve success in life. Pay attention to the health of the girl child. Do not discriminate between sons and daughters in upbringing. Also discourage social evils like dowry. Start it from your own homes. Do not take dowry, do not give dowry. Sons should be educated to respect women from home itself. The Governor said that women should take active part in the campaign against drug abuse. Try to keep your children away from drugs and keep a constant vigil on them.
On this occasion, sharing her experience during the Korana period, Rakhi Rawat, a female constable of the Civil Police said that during the Corona period, the people trapped in the lockdown were helped by the police personnel with full sensitivity. Continuous work was done by the police personnel in taking people to their homes, helping them financially, providing them ration and medicines.
Mrs. Rani, an environment friend working in Municipal Corporation Roorkee, said that the responsibility of sanitation workers increased during the Corona period. Safai Karamcharis had to fulfill their responsibilities by facing various challenges.
On this occasion Secretary Shri Governor Shri Brijesh Kumar Sant, Additional Secretary Shri Jitendra Kumar Sonkar, Legal Advisor Smt. Kahkasha Khan and women frontline workers were present.
