On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh, appealed to the people of the state to take a pledge for the protection and conservation of the environment.
The Governor said that Uttarakhand’s mountain ranges, forests, rivers, and biodiversity are invaluable natural treasures, and their preservation is a collective responsibility of all citizens. He emphasized that to address challenges such as climate change and pollution, it is essential to promote tree plantation, reduce the use of plastic, maintain the cleanliness of water sources, and increase environmental awareness.
On World Environment Day, he urged all citizens to make environmental protection a people-driven movement and to ensure a clean and green future for coming generations.
