22-04-2026 : Address of the Honorable Governor at the Ninth Convocation Ceremony of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University.
Jai Hind!
Today, I feel immense happiness and pride to be present among you all at the ninth convocation ceremony of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University. This occasion is not only about receiving degrees, but also a celebration of your years of hard work, discipline, and dedication.
First of all, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the students receiving degrees and medals at this ceremony. This achievement is the result of your talent, determination, and continuous efforts. Behind your success lies the sacrifice of your parents, the guidance of your teachers, and your tireless dedication. I also extend my appreciation to all of them.
Dear Students,
You are truly fortunate to have received education from a university named after Veer Madho Singh Bhandari, a symbol of bravery, technical excellence, and public service. His life teaches us that knowledge becomes meaningful only when it contributes to the welfare and transformation of society. The construction of the Maletha canal was not just a technical achievement, but a powerful example of how determination, knowledge, and service to society can make even the impossible possible.
Uttarakhand, this sacred land, has always been known for courage, sacrifice, and discipline. Every young person here moves forward with a spirit of service to the nation. Today, you are entering a new phase of life as carriers of that same tradition.
A convocation ceremony is not just an event, but the beginning of a new chapter in life. From today, you have become responsible citizens, innovative thinkers, and active participants in nation building.
I am pleased to note that this university is continuously progressing in the fields of technical education, research, and innovation. Its efforts toward adopting new and emerging technologies are commendable. The initiatives taken in education, research, and innovation are establishing it as a dynamic and forward-looking institution. Raj Bhavan remains committed to providing all possible guidance and support to this university.
The university’s operation of the only women’s technical institute in the state, along with its expansion of technical education in remote and difficult regions such as Pithoragarh, Gopeshwar, Tehri, Uttarkashi, and Tanakpur, is an excellent example of inclusive and balanced development.
Today’s era is the era of technological revolution. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, cyber security, and quantum computing are not just subjects, but key pillars shaping the future. I am glad that this university is incorporating these modern technologies into its curriculum and research. This institution is not only imparting education, but also building the future.
Artificial intelligence today is influencing not only industries, but also education, healthcare, agriculture, governance, and every aspect of society. In the coming time, those nations will move ahead whose youth are skilled in these technologies and use them ethically and responsibly.
I expect that you will not only be job seekers, but job creators; not just consumers of technology, but innovators and problem solvers; and that you will use your knowledge to solve real problems of society.
Dear Students,
India is currently going through a transformative phase. Our country is establishing a strong global identity in startups, innovation, and digital revolution. Youth from small towns and villages are also showcasing their talent on global platforms. This is a time full of opportunities for you.
However, along with technological progress, we must also ensure that our development is sustainable and inclusive. Climate change, conservation of resources, and environmental balance are major challenges of our time. Therefore, I urge you to develop technologies that are environmentally friendly, beneficial to all sections of society, and centered on the welfare of humanity.
Dear Students,
You represent not only the hopes of your families, but also the aspirations of the nation. As the generation of the twenty-first century, you will play an important role in making India a developed nation. Set a clear purpose in your life, recognize your abilities, and move forward with complete dedication toward your goals.
Dear Graduates,
In the world of technology, there are two kinds of people—
those who wait for new technologies to arrive, and those who create new technologies. You must decide who you want to become. Whenever you face a challenge in life, do not see it as a problem. See it as an unsolved code. I believe each one of you has the ability to solve that code.
But remember—
great engineers do not just build systems; they transform lives. Whatever you create, make it simple, useful, and most importantly, beneficial for humanity. Success will not be measured by your position or salary, but by how many lives you improve.
And finally, whenever you reach great heights, do not forget your roots. They will keep you grounded and help you rise even higher.
You are not just going to build careers—you are going to write history. And I am confident you will make it remarkable.
In conclusion, I once again extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the graduates for a bright future.
Jai Hind!
