    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) has appealed to the migrant people of Uttarakhand living in the country and around the world to try to celebrate their folk festivals in their native villages. He said that it is very important to connect with our roots. I have high hopes from the youth of Uttarakhand in this direction. I hope that the new generation of Uttarakhand will work for reverse migration. They should try to increase self-employment based on local products through innovation, technology and digital marketing in their homes and villages. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that the festivals and traditions of Uttarakhand have a different aroma. Today tourists from all over the world yearn to see it. We have to do such an excellent work in this area that people from all over the world come to see it. With this, Uttarakhand will emerge as a big hub of cultural tourism on the global map. The whole world will understand our culture, traditions and rural life.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the program organized at Dehradun Ring Road on Sunday as the chief guest “Ek Sham Bhelau Igash Budhi Deepawali Dev Deepawali ke naam”. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present on the occasion.

    Congratulating the people of the state on Igaas, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that traditions and culture are very important. We have to know and understand our traditions, customs, culture. They have to be respected. We have to understand the depth and vision in our beautiful traditions. This has to be conveyed to the new generation as well. The Governor said that our unique traditions lead us towards harmony. Connects us together. Takes us back to our roots. Our traditions and culture are the gift of our ancestors. It is our responsibility to take them forward. It is also very important to preserve our traditions and culture and pass it on to the next generation. The world should also know how beautiful thinking is behind our rich traditions. The real history of our civilization, culture is in these.

    The Governor said that when the information about the return of Lord Shri Ram to Ayodhya was received eleven days after Diwali in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand, the people here celebrated Egaas or Deepawali on Ekadashi . It also shows the challenges of the mountains. He said that when we celebrate our festivals, festivals with our family, village and our people, then there is no limit to its happiness and joy.

    Governor said that it is a matter of happiness that Rajya Sabha MP Shri Anil Baluni ji has taken a good initiative. He celebrates the festival of Igaas with his family and villagers in his native village in Pauri district for the last three-four years. This is inspirational for all the people of Uttarakhand. They should try to establish the local products and handicrafts of Uttarakhand as a brand in the national and international markets.

    The Governor said that the era of COVID-19 also gave people an opportunity to connect with their roots. Many migrant of Uttarakhand returned to their villages and homes during the lockdown. They connected with their roots. Now they see success here only. They are doing good work through entrepreneurship and micro financing. Such people influenced everyone.

    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that on November 15, the birth anniversary of Birsa Munda ji is being celebrated as Tribal Pride Day. Tribes have the deepest and most beautiful culture in the world. In our Uttarakhand also, the people of Jaunsari, Bhotian, Boxa, Raji and Tharu tribes have maintained their vibrant and beautiful culture. Especially the houses and temples made of exquisite woodwork, attractive costumes, song-music, dance and rich traditions of Jaunsar region have a special identity of their own.

    The Governor said that recently he visited Pauri and Tehri districts. It is a different spiritual experience to meet the people of the mountains. The ability, dedication, hard work, credibility and responsibilities of the women of hill villages are different. The case of the people of Uttarakhand is different. From here Ganga ji, Yamuna ji originates. The water, air, thoughts, festivals, traditions here give a different message to the country and to the world.
