Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in a program organized by Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha at Constitutional Club, New Delhi on Monday.
Addressing the program, Governor Shri Gurmit Singh said that due to the tireless efforts of the dedicated members, the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha strengthened the spirit of patriotism among the youth along with helping the families of martyrs and working for the welfare of ex-servicemen. It is also working for the eradication of various social evils. The Governor said that the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha is a unique organization. Jai Hind and the tricolor are paramount for the soldiers and the army. Jai Hind unites the country in one thread. It will help you to face the challenges ahead.
The Governor said that it is a matter of pride that today about 1 lakh ex-servicemen and civilians have joined the Rashtriya Sainik Sanstha dedicated to the service of the nation. These dedicated members are constantly striving for the help and well being of the families of the martyrs and the welfare of the ex-servicemen. Honoring the martyrs, helping the martyrs and the parents of the martyrs is the collective responsibility of all.
The Governor said that the ex-servicemen should use their experiences and knowledge in nation building and for the betterment of the society. Qualities like conscientiousness, discipline, honesty always accompany the soldiers. You are all natural leaders. Connect people with the works of nation building and public interest.
The Governor said that the students should be motivated for the work of nation building and social service in schools and colleges. All citizens must read the Fundamental Duties mentioned in Article 51 of the Constitution of India and follow them faithfully.
The Governor said that it is a matter of pride for me to become the Governor of Tapobhoomi, Sainik Dham Uttarakhand. It is a matter of pride that Uttarakhand is contributing more than 18 percent to the country’s defense service. At least one person from each family is in the army. There are four holy places like Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, holy places of Sikh Gurus. It is also the Tapbhoomi of Guru Gobind Singh ji who was a soldier, saint and scholar.
Major General (Retd.) Shri P K Tyagi, Wing Commander (Retd) Shri Praphul Bakshi, Major General (Retd) Dr. Vipin Bakshi, H H Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni, Col TP Tyagi, Shri Rajendra Bagasi, Major Sushil Goyal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
