Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd)  Gurmit Singh  performed “Kanya Pujan” at Raj Bhawan on  the occasion of Mahanavami. Governor prayed for the prosperity and prosperity of the state. The Governor worshiped girls invited to the Raj Bhawan and served them food himself.

Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Gurmit Singh also distributed gifts to the girls. On this occasion, The Governor reiterated his resolve of girl child education and women empowerment. He said that the importance of women empowerment in Indian culture is known from Durga Puja. Respect and worship of women is a part of Indian culture. Our festivals will continue to act as guidance to tell the importance of women.
