Governor Lt Gen Shri Gurmit Singh (Retd) has extended greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of “Valmiki Jayanti”.

Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that “Great poet, Maharishi Valmiki made the world aware of the character of Maryada Purushottam Ram by composing an epic like Ramayana. He propounded the principle of an egalitarian society in which all sections of the society are equal and have the right to mutual respect and affection. An ideal society and nation can be built by following the teachings of Maharishi Valmiki. Valmiki’s teachings inspire us to serve and help the marginalized and deprived sections of the society as well as ensure equality of opportunity for them.
