17-07-2026:Address of Hon’ble Governor on the Inauguration of the Redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme

It gives me immense pleasure and satisfaction to be present among you on this historic occasion of the inauguration of the redeveloped Harrawala Railway Station, which marks a new milestone in enhancing public convenience. I extend my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all of you on this significant achievement and memorable occasion.

Today, on the sacred land of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, we are witnessing a historic moment that is not merely the inauguration of a railway station, but a powerful symbol of the vision of a Developed India—one that integrates modern infrastructure, public service, cultural pride, and people’s participation.

The progress of a nation is measured not only by its economic achievements, but also by how easily, safely, respectfully, and inclusively essential services reach its citizens. Modern India is advancing towards a new era by embracing this very vision of development.

Railways are not merely a means of connecting two places; they connect people with people, cultures with cultures, opportunities with aspirations, and development with trust. A railway station is often the first impression of a city. It is not only a centre for the arrival and departure of passengers, but also a reflection of the region’s culture, heritage, hospitality, and vision for development. Therefore, today’s occasion is a matter of pride and honour not only for Harrawala but for the entire state of Uttarakhand.

The dedication of 75 redeveloped Amrit Bharat Railway Stations to the nation today by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi marks a historic chapter in India’s journey of development. This is not merely an expansion of infrastructure, but an innovative initiative that combines citizen-centric development, modern amenities, and the preservation of our cultural identity.

I wholeheartedly congratulate the Government of India, the Ministry of Railways, Hon’ble Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railway Board, Northern Railway, and all the officers, engineers, and staff of the Moradabad Division, whose dedication and tireless efforts have made this significant achievement possible.

Our scriptures remind us:

«”Udyamena hi siddhyanti kāryāṇi na manorathaiḥ;
Na hi suptasya siṁhasya praviśanti mukhe mṛgāḥ.”»

This means that great achievements are realised not through wishful thinking, but through sustained effort, determination, and hard work. The transformation of Indian Railways stands as an inspiring example of this spirit of dedication, foresight, and excellence.

It is indeed a matter of great satisfaction that Harrawala Railway Station, under the Moradabad Division of Northern Railway, is among the 75 Amrit Stations being dedicated to the nation today in a new and modern form. Redeveloped at a cost of approximately ₹19 crore, the station represents an excellent blend of state-of-the-art facilities and local cultural identity.

Its architecture draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the Doon Valley and the grandeur of the Himalayas. The distinctive curved roof reflects the silhouette of the Himalayan ranges, while the station premises beautifully showcase Uttarakhand’s traditional Aipan art, giving dignified expression to our rich folk heritage. It is truly a remarkable example of the harmonious blend of modern India and cultural India.

The station now offers world-class facilities, including a grand entrance plaza, a spacious concourse, modern waiting halls, an executive lounge, infrastructure accessible to persons with disabilities, clean and user-friendly toilets, improved drinking water facilities, upgraded platforms, efficient traffic management, and a green environment. This clearly reflects that today’s development is centred not merely on constructing buildings, but on ensuring citizen convenience, human dignity, accessibility, and inclusiveness.

The eternal message of Indian culture is:

«”Charaiveti… Charaiveti…”»

It means, Keep moving forward continuously. This is the fundamental mantra of life, society, and national progress. Indian Railways is embodying this very spirit by setting new benchmarks in speed, quality, safety, and innovation. The transformation of railway stations symbolises the continuous journey towards a Developed India.

Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is a land of spiritual consciousness, natural beauty, bravery, rich culture, and tourism. Hon’ble Prime Minister has expressed the vision that “The third decade of the 21st century belongs to Uttarakhand.” Modern railway infrastructure will provide renewed strength and momentum to this vision.

Harrawala Railway Station will serve as a modern, attractive, and dignified gateway to Uttarakhand for tourists, pilgrims, students, military families, and visitors from across the country and abroad. I am confident that every traveller arriving here will experience not only modern amenities but also our cultural warmth and the timeless Indian spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava”—The Guest is God.

I am particularly delighted that this programme has been celebrated as a festival of public participation. Essay, painting, and speech competitions on the theme “What should my city’s railway station look like in a Developed India?” were organised in local schools, providing students with an opportunity to express their creativity and imagination. This is not merely a competition, but an inspiring initiative to involve the younger generation in the making of a Developed India.

I congratulate all the participating students, their teachers, and parents, and extend my best wishes to the winners being honoured today. I firmly believe that this young generation will be the greatest driving force behind the vision of a Developed India by 2047.

Railways are the lifeline of the economic, social, and cultural development of any region. Improved rail connectivity accelerates tourism, trade, agriculture, local industries, investment, employment, and balanced regional development.

Today, Uttarakhand is steadily advancing towards new heights in year-round tourism, homestays, organic farming, local products, yoga, Ayurveda, spiritual tourism, and adventure tourism. At such a time, modern railway stations will serve as powerful centres for unlocking and realising these immense opportunities.

I urge all the citizens present here to regard this modern station not merely as the property of the Railways, but as our shared heritage. It is our collective responsibility to preserve its cleanliness, beauty, discipline, and orderly environment. When citizens and the government work together as equal partners in development, national progress becomes sustainable, inclusive, and beneficial to all.

On this inspiring occasion, let us all resolve to make modern infrastructure, excellence in public service, preservation of our cultural heritage, environmental responsibility, cleanliness, discipline, and public participation integral parts of our lives. Together, let us contribute actively to the building of a Developed India and a Developed Uttarakhand.
