Various people from different walks of life, dignitaries and senior officials called on the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan today. Those who met the Governor included former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, IMA Commandant Lieutenant General Nagendra Singh, Director General of Intelligence Shri Abhinav Kumar, Chairman of the Hemkund Sahib Management Trust Shri Narenderjit Singh Bindra, Chairman of the Uttarakhand Waqf Board Shri Shadab Shams, among others.

During the meetings, they congratulated the Governor on the successful completion of his tenure and appreciated his guidance, contributions and efforts towards public service in Uttarakhand.

On the occasion, the Governor expressed his gratitude to all the visitors. He said that serving as the Governor of Uttarakhand had been a matter of great honour and privilege for him. He described the affection, trust and support received from the people of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand as one of the most cherished achievements of his tenure.

The Governor said that over the past five years, he had the opportunity to contribute to various areas including the development of the state, education, women’s empowerment, promotion of youth, recognition and welfare of ex-servicemen, and public welfare. He acknowledged that the cooperation of the state government, administration, various institutions and the people of Uttarakhand had played an important role in these efforts.

He said that Uttarakhand’s rich culture, spiritual heritage, proud tradition of valiant soldiers and the warmth and affection of its people would always remain cherished memories for him.
