14-05-2026:Address by Hon’ble Governor on the Inauguration of the “AI Theme Room” and “AI on Wheels” Initiative.
Jai Hind!
Today is a moment of pride, resolve, and inspiration for the people of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. This sunrise has not merely brought a new date for our state, but has become a witness to the beginning of a bright and technologically empowered future for Uttarakhand.
The inauguration of the “AI Theme Room” and the launch of the “AI on Wheels” initiative here at Lok Bhavan is not merely the formal commencement of a technological project. In reality, it is the gateway to a new era of innovation, modern education, and youth empowerment, where our “Amrit Generation” stands ready to march in step with the world during this Amrit Kaal. Today, we are not only initiating machines and technology, but also laying the foundation for a strong and self-reliant future for Uttarakhand.
Today, the entire world is witnessing a transformative revolution through Artificial Intelligence. AI is no longer a concept of the future; it has become one of the greatest global forces and the primary engine of development in our present time. At such a crucial juncture, it is essential that our youth do not remain merely consumers of technology, but become its creators through their intellect and innovation. Rather than depending solely on technologies developed by others, we must establish new technological benchmarks through our original thinking in support of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India).
Friends,
The “AI Theme Room” inaugurated today is not merely a room; it is a vibrant center of innovation, research, and public participation. It will serve as a strong bridge between education, science, and society. I firmly believe that this innovation hub will become a workplace of creativity for our youth, where they will not only learn to use technology but also develop solutions to future global challenges. The startups and research emerging from here will provide a new technological direction not only to Uttarakhand but to the entire nation.
I am especially delighted by the “AI on Wheels” initiative. I strongly believe that development becomes meaningful only when its benefits reach the last person standing in society. This mobile AI center will become a “chariot of knowledge” for children in remote mountainous regions and distant villages who were previously disconnected from the mainstream.
This innovative effort will ensure that modern technological education is not confined to urban skyscrapers, but reaches the doorstep of every village and every school in Uttarakhand. In reality, “AI on Wheels” is not merely a bus; it is a powerful bridge that will eliminate the digital divide.
Friends,
I have always firmly believed that talent is never dependent on big cities or expensive resources. Hidden within the remote mountainous regions, caves, and small village schools of our Devbhoomi is extraordinary talent and innovative energy that can astonish the world. The problem has never been a lack of capability, but a lack of opportunity. Our talented children were only waiting for the right platform and proper guidance. The mission to bring this vision to life is called “Operation Kalki.”
Kalki is considered the final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, symbolizing the destroyer of darkness.
“Operation Kalki” is a massive people’s movement aimed at connecting the youth of Uttarakhand with technology. Through this campaign, teams reached remote areas and government schools across all 13 districts of the state, not only teaching AI but also igniting a new sense of confidence in the eyes of young students regarding their future. Every child associated with this campaign can proudly say today: “Technology is my right, and innovation is my future.”
During this journey, thousands of remarkable innovations emerged from students, and it is a matter of great pride that these ideas did not remain limited to discussions alone, but were transformed into more than 100 practical AI applications. This is living proof that, when given the right opportunities, students from government schools can also provide world-class solutions.
I wholeheartedly congratulate all the students, teachers, district coordinators, and mentors who have steered this successful mission. I also extend special appreciation to “Techno Hub Laboratories” and its dedicated young engineers and researchers. Your efforts to bring technology to rural and remote regions are truly commendable and represent a milestone in nation-building.
Friends,
Our Indian culture proclaims: “Prajnanam Brahma” — “Knowledge itself is divine.” Our sacred land is the place where sages, thousands of years ago, gifted the world extraordinary knowledge ranging from the concept of zero to precise astronomical calculations. Today, the need of the hour is to connect that ancient wisdom with the modern medium of Artificial Intelligence.
When the power of our ancient Ayurveda combines with AI-driven predictive analysis, it will bring an unprecedented revolution in global healthcare. Through AI, we can preserve our rare manuscripts and endangered languages, making them understandable for future generations. We must develop technologies rooted in our values. Guided by the mantra of “Preserving Heritage while Advancing Development,” we must demonstrate that the confluence of ancient knowledge and modern science is the true path to the welfare of humanity.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has envisioned the creation of a “Developed India” by the year 2047. This is not merely a goal, but a shared dream of every Indian. During this Amrit Kaal, Artificial Intelligence will become our most powerful and effective instrument in achieving that vision.
In this era of data and digitalization, only when our energetic youth are equipped with advanced technologies like AI will we not only solve problems but also establish new benchmarks of innovation. When our youth combine their traditional skills with global technologies, only then will our state and country emerge as true technology leaders on the global stage.
Friends,
Uttarakhand is known for its unique geographical conditions, but these very conditions also present challenges before us. Today, I call upon our brilliant youth to use AI to transform these challenges into opportunities. We must develop technologies that can save lives through precise disaster management, increase farmers’ incomes through smart agriculture, and provide permanent solutions to the serious issue of migration by encouraging reverse migration.
We must now complement the sacred image of Devbhoomi as a “Land of Knowledge” with the pride of becoming a “Land of Technology.” At a time when India is advancing towards global technological leadership, Uttarakhand cannot remain behind. I urge all universities, scientific institutions, industries, and startups in the state to create an ecosystem where innovation is not limited to discussions but is implemented on the ground. Together, let us pave a strong path where every youth contributes to this grand mission of technology and development, enabling Uttarakhand to become a flag bearer of this digital revolution.
I would like to tell our respected teachers: there is no need to fear technology; instead, make it your ally. Remember, technology can never replace a teacher, because while a machine can provide information, only a teacher can impart values and wisdom. But when a value-driven teacher becomes empowered with technology, they make future generations invincible. Do not merely teach—ignite the flame of innovation within your students through technology.
My dear students,
AI is like wings for the flight of your dreams. Do not see it merely as a tool, but as a medium to expand your creativity. Never underestimate the scope of your aspirations.
Remember my mantra: stay curious and continue learning. Use technology not only for personal success, but also for society and nation-building. Remember, the future belongs not to those who merely know how to use technology, but to those who use technology to solve problems. Every small success of yours contributes to the grand vision of a “Developed India.”
I firmly believe that when this chariot of technology — “AI on Wheels” — travels across the difficult paths of Devbhoomi, Uttarakhand will raise its victory flag at the summit of innovation.
Once again, I wholeheartedly congratulate all the dedicated contributors behind the “AI Theme Room,” “AI on Wheels,” and “Operation Kalki,” who have transformed this dream into reality through their hard work on the ground. Your efforts are not limited merely to code and circuits; they represent a grand mission to transform the destiny of millions of youth in Uttarakhand.
Let us all participate in building an Uttarakhand that is technologically empowered, progressive, and fully self-reliant. I am fully confident that this torch of innovation will take Devbhoomi to new heights on the global technological map.
With this hope and confidence, I conclude my address.
Jai Hind! Jai Uttarakhand!
