In the presence of President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated in the first convocation of Patanjali University at Haridwar on Sunday. Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the program, Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that today is a fortunate and happy moment for all of us, the people of Devbhoomi. With the presence of His Excellency Rashtrapati ji, today this temple of learning and knowledge, Patanjali University and our entire Uttarakhand family has become dignified. The holy land of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, its beautiful mountains, rivers and all the people express their gratitude to His Excellency the President.

Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) said that Swami Ramdev Ji and Acharya Balkrishna Ji have given a new identity to Yoga and Ayurveda across the world. They deserve congratulations. Swami Ramdev ji highlighted importance of Ayurveda and Yoga to the whole world. He has brought revolution in the health sector through Yoga and Ayurveda. In future 7 billion people of the world will take advantage of it. He has done a great job of taking it to the masses. Today yoga has become popular among all people including children, elders. The whole world has recognized the powers of Kapalbharti, Pranayama and Yogasanas.

The Governor said that Ayurveda and Yoga have also prepared India for the challenges of the COVID-19 period. Where the whole world was badly affected due to COVID-19. Due to Yoga and Ayurveda, India faced this challenge better.

The Governor said that I have full faith that the students who take degrees in this convocation today will live up to the expectations of their nation, state and society. You will use your education, talent and training for human welfare. Hope our health warriors will successfully face the challenges ahead.

The Governor said that the convocation does not mean the end of education. Education is a continuous process throughout life. Today the whole world is full of unlimited possibilities and opportunities. Expectations from the younger generation are that with out-of-the-box thinking and their new imaginations, they will give unlimited results in every field.

I am happy to see that today a large number of youth want to study and learn Sanskrit language, Yoga, Ayurveda, Naturopathy and ancient Indian disciplines. If such youth can get expertise in Information Technology, Digitization, Social Media and Mass Media too, then it will take our ancient disciplines to new heights. Social media and mass media can be used by the youth to promote these rich genres. I believe that the students of Yoga and Ayurveda are also the brand ambassadors of our civilization and culture.

The Governor said that Yoga and Ayurveda are simple, low cost, natural, eternal and complete medical sciences. We have to bring this matter to the people. To establish Yoga and Ayurveda as one of the major medical systems of the world. This great responsibility is also on you.

The Governor said that today we face the challenge of balanced development along with sustainable development. My request to the students is that if the benefit of your education, talent and vision reaches the backward areas, remote villages, deprived and poor sections of the society, then it will give a new meaning to your life. Especially in the context of Uttarakhand, educated youth here should work for enterprises based on local products, crafts and culture. Surely you will write a new chapter of reverse migration in the state.

The Governor said that it is hoped that in future you will give top priority to moral values, humanity, welfare and service in your field of service. You will work with the vision of universal welfare. You will make excellent efforts in your fields along with professional ethics.
