    04-11-2025:Governor held a meeting with the officials of the district administration at Tarai Bhawan, Udham Singh Nagar.

    Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmit Singh (Retd.) reached Pantnagar University on Tuesday evening as per his scheduled program. At Tarai Bhawan, he held a meeting with the District Magistrate, Senior Superintendent of Police, and Chief Development Officer to review development works and the law and order situation in the district.

    The Governor congratulated Udham Singh Nagar district for securing a place among the top five districts in the country under the Prime Minister’s Janman Yojana. He expressed pride that the district had been honoured by the Hon’ble President of India, and directed that officers contributing to the success of the Janman Yojana be duly felicitated.

    The Governor instructed Pantnagar University to promote initiatives like the Honey Revolution, semiconductor development, and the inclusion of women from self-help groups in agriculture through the Drone Didi scheme. He emphasized the need to enhance seed production, agricultural research, and technological advancement in the sector.

    During the meeting, the District Magistrate informed that the cultivation of summer paddy had been restricted, and farmers were being encouraged to grow sugarcane, maize, and pulses. He also mentioned that on the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of Uttarakhand’s Statehood, a Water Sports Programme would be organized at Nanaksagar Dam on 8 November. The District Magistrate further shared updates on ongoing development projects across the district.

    The Senior Superintendent of Police briefed the Governor on the law and order situation and informed that strict legal action was being taken against criminals. He also shared that the Government of India had approved a Forensic Lab for the district, and land had been identified for it in Kichha.

    The Chief Development Officer stated that efforts were being made to strengthen education and healthcare facilities in the district. He informed that model schools and libraries were being established in 27 Nyaya Panchayats, and new classrooms were being constructed in 150 primary schools through disaster relief funds. To make the district TB-free, testing and treatment programmes were being conducted at the village level. Additionally, air-conditioned wards were being set up in hospitals to promote institutional deliveries, and regular monitoring of pregnant women was being carried out.

    Those present at the meeting included District Magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadauria, Senior Superintendent of Police Manikant Mishra, Chief Development Officer Divesh Shashni, and Registrar of Pantnagar University Deepa Vinay.
