Governor Dr. Dhal Singh Bisen interacted with students from West Bengal who are visiting Uttarakhand under the ‘Yuva Sangam’ programme at Lok Bhavan on Friday. Welcoming the students to Uttarakhand, the Governor said that Yuva Sangam is not merely a journey, but an opportunity to know, understand and experience the diversity of India. Such programmes strengthen mutual understanding, camaraderie and national unity among the youth of different states.

The Governor said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ is an important initiative to weave the country’s rich cultural diversity into the thread of unity. When students visit other states and gain first-hand exposure to their language, cuisine, traditions and culture, they develop a deeper understanding of India’s diversity. Such experiences further strengthen the spirit of national integration.

The Governor called upon the students to imbibe good values, maintain a positive outlook and always place the national interest above all else in life. He said that young people should carry a strong spirit of ‘Nation First’. He observed that even losing one’s way at times can become an opportunity to learn and understand oneself, but what matters is finding the right direction again and using those experiences to build character. He emphasised that good values, strong character and a positive outlook are essential for achieving success in life.

The Governor said that the knowledge and skills of the youth should ultimately benefit society and the nation. He urged the students to utilise their knowledge to help address challenges faced by farmers, villages, the environment and disadvantaged sections of society. He said that the youth have a crucial role to play in achieving the goal of a developed India. For the creation of a self-reliant and developed India, it is essential for young people to be not only knowledgeable and skilled, but also individuals of strong character, discipline and a deep sense of duty.

On the occasion, the Governor congratulated the coordinators, teachers, officials and the organising team of Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur for their significant contribution to the successful organisation of the programme.
