    A programme was organised at Lok Bhawan on Wednesday on the occasion of Christmas Eve, in which representatives from various churches of Dehradun participated. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) attended the programme and extended his warm greetings to everyone on the occasion of Christmas. The programme commenced with the melodious singing of Christmas carols, followed by the cutting of a Christmas cake. Church representatives presented soulful hymns and carols during the event.

    On the occasion, the Governor said that Christmas is a festival of love, compassion, and service, which conveys the message of harmony, brotherhood, and unity among humanity. He stated that the festival inspires people to engage in selfless service to others. Appreciating the collective participation of representatives from all churches in Dehradun, the Governor described the celebration as an exemplary symbol of social unity and harmony.

    The Governor further said that festivals like Christmas provide an important opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding and goodwill among different religions and communities. He remarked that the soul of India lies in its diversity, and it is this diversity that binds the nation together. The life values imparted by Lord Jesus Christ inspire humanity to stay away from social evils and to walk on the path of truth, righteousness, and service.

    In conclusion, the Governor extended his best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Christmas and the forthcoming New Year, expressing hope that the festival would bring happiness, peace, prosperity, and positive energy into everyone’s lives.

    The programme was attended by the First Lady, Mrs. Gurmit Kaur, Colonel S. Washington, Bobby Cash, Nirmal Jacob, Rajni Washington, and several other distinguished representatives of the Christian community.
