    Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) inaugurated the “Crime Literature Festival” today at a hotel located on Rajpur Road. Organized by the Doon Cultural and Literary Society, the festival received high praise from the Governor, who described it as a unique initiative. He said that the Crime Literature Festival is not merely a platform for entertainment, but an important medium that opens meaningful dialogue on issues related to society, justice, and public safety. He noted that hosting such an event in the peaceful and spiritual land of Uttarakhand reflects the society’s awareness, sensitivity, and responsibility towards contemporary challenges.

    The Governor said that the nature of crime is changing rapidly, with rising threats such as cybercrime, digital fraud, drug-related offenses, and misuse of online platforms. In such times, it is essential for the youth to strengthen their ethical values along with technological awareness. He added that the Crime Literature Festival is an effective platform to promote alertness, sensitivity, and fresh thinking in society.

    The Governor also commended the dedication, hard work, and public service spirit of the police force. He said that the role of the police extends beyond maintaining law and order; it is crucial in strengthening public security and trust. The Governor emphasized that literature serves as a powerful medium to enhance communication, understanding, and cooperation between citizens and the police.

    On this occasion, renowned film director Shri Ketan Mehta also appreciated the initiative and described it as a significant step in the interest of society. The event was attended by former DGP Shri Ashok Kumar, Shri Alok Lal, Shri Randhir Arora, along with several writers, thinkers, and intellectuals.
