On Tuesday, Telangana State Formation Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Lok Bhavan, Nainital. On this occasion, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) participated in the program, interacted with students from Telangana studying at Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, and extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of Telangana on the occasion of the state’s foundation day. During the event, the students shared their experiences of living in Uttarakhand and expressed their views on the state’s culture, education system, and environment.

The Governor said that Telangana is a state rich in cultural heritage, natural resources, forests, and wildlife. Owing to its historical legacy, cultural diversity, and development-oriented vision, Telangana enjoys a distinct identity in the country and is also a highly attractive tourist destination. He noted that Telangana’s achievements in the fields of agriculture, technology, and cybersecurity serve as an inspiration for the nation.

Sharing his experiences from his military service, the Governor stated that he has a special emotional connection with Telangana. He mentioned that he had the opportunity to serve in the state for nearly three years during his military career, which enabled him to closely understand its culture, people, and traditions.

The Governor said that celebrating the foundation days of different states provides an opportunity to learn about and appreciate the country’s diverse cultural heritage while promoting mutual interaction and understanding. He emphasized that “Unity in Diversity” is India’s greatest strength, and the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” (One India, Great India) strengthens cultural harmony, mutual understanding, and national integration among the states. He added that this initiative plays a significant role in building a strong, prosperous, and united India.

On the occasion, First Lady Mrs. Gurmit Kaur, Prof. D. S. Murty of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, and other dignitaries were also present.
