02-11-2025:Address by the Hon’ble Governor on the Occasion of the Convocation Ceremony of Patanjali University
Jai Hind!
It is our great fortune that on this auspicious occasion, we have the privilege of receiving the gracious presence of the Hon’ble President of India. On this sacred land, all of us, the people of Devbhoomi, extend our heartfelt welcome and greetings to you. The people of this state are overwhelmed by your dignified presence in this temple of learning — Patanjali University.
Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is not merely a state, but the life-centre of Yoga, Ayurveda, and spirituality. The traditions of Yoga and Ayurveda that originated from this sacred land have shared with not only India but the entire world the message of health, harmony, and balance. The sage tradition of Uttarakhand continues to inspire us even today — that the highest purpose of knowledge is not self-development alone, but the welfare of the entire world.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all the students receiving their degrees at this convocation ceremony. I hope that our “warriors of health” will successfully face the challenges that await them after graduation. I am confident that the students receiving their degrees today will live up to the expectations of our nation, our state, and our society, and that they will use their education, talent, and training for the welfare of humanity.
It is a matter of pride for me to participate in this convocation ceremony of Patanjali University, which has made remarkable contributions in popularizing the great ancient Indian disciplines of Yoga and Ayurveda on the global stage. Swami Ramdev Ji and Acharya Balkrishna Ji have given Yoga and Ayurveda a new global identity and have made an extraordinary contribution in the promotion of Swadeshi over the past 25 years.
The knowledge acquired by our sages and seers was not meant only for us, but for the welfare of the entire universe. Our esteemed Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji, by securing the recognition of the International Day of Yoga at the United Nations, has provided a global platform to the scientific work on Yoga carried out over thousands of years. In recent years, a great revolution has taken place in the field of health through Yoga and Ayurveda. Today, millions of people across the world are benefiting from them.
I firmly believe that the welfare of the entire universe is possible only when India’s ancient Vedic culture is revived.
We know that Yoga, Ayurveda, religion, philosophy, and spirituality form the core essence of Indian culture. It gives me great joy to see that today a large number of young people are eager to study and learn Sanskrit, Yoga, Ayurveda, Naturopathy, and other ancient Indian disciplines.
I believe that students of Yoga and Ayurveda are the brand ambassadors of our civilization and culture. Yoga and Ayurveda are treasures of low-cost, simple, natural, and eternal knowledge — a complete science of healing.
Dear Students,
Your education will be truly meaningful only when its benefits reach society. Through your deeds, humility, and spirit of service, prove that India’s ancient knowledge traditions are still the most relevant in the modern era.
I am confident that all of you will play a bridging role in realizing the dream of a Developed India 2047. I hope that in the years to come, you will contribute innovatively to global health and well-being. I extend my best wishes for your bright, inspiring, and exemplary future.
The dignified presence of the Hon’ble President in this ceremony has infused us with new energy and inspiration. Your guidance and blessings have strengthened our morale. Once again, on behalf of all the citizens of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President.
Jai Hind!
