Governor Smt. Baby Rani Maurya took a review meeting at Raj Bhawan on Monday to review the situation related to COVID-19 control in Uttarakhand. Governor Smt. Maurya directed the Secretary Health to intensify the efforts being made for prevention of Covid in the state. For the prevention of Covid, the administration should work on a war footing with public participation and public participation. The Governor directed that the cooperation of ex-servicemen, NCC, various NGOs and volunteers of Red Cross should be taken in the campaign of prevention of Kovid. He said that along with increasing the health facilities for covid control in the state, it is necessary to stop the increase in the number of covid patients. The Governor has directed the officers to prepare a concrete action plan at the earliest for the speedy prevention of Covid in the state.
Governor Smt. Maurya directed the Secretary Health to hold an early meeting with the District Magistrates of the six most affected districts of Uttarakhand namely Haridwar, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Pauri and Tehri regarding prevention of COVID-19. The situation in other hill districts should also be monitored from now on. Secretary Health Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey informed that with the participation and cooperation of various government and non-government hospitals in the state, some hotels are being converted into covid care units. Recently, the health department has got 300 new doctors. The final year MBBS students are also being included in the doctors. Services of nursing students are also being taken. The stadium in Haldwani has been converted into a Covid Care Unit. There are 6 oxygen plants working in the state. 2 more oxygen plants are going to start soon. Oxygen is available in sufficient quantity. The availability of Remdesivir injection is being closely monitored in the state.
Officials of Red Cross Society informed that Red Cross aims to add 800 volunteers in each district so that Red Cross can make effective contribution in prevention of covid in all districts. Governor Smt. Maurya directed the district magistrates to hold meetings with the presidents of the district level Red Cross committees in this regard. The Governor said that the resources and capabilities of the Red Cross Committee should be fully utilized for the prevention of covid. Volunteers of Red Cross should be engaged in the campaign of public awareness.
Governor Smt. Maurya directed the officers of the Army to take help of ex-servicemen and NCC cadets in covid prevention and public awareness. Ex-servicemen should be attached to the Red Cross. In view of the increasing cases of covid among the youth, NCC cadets can play an important role in making the youth aware.
Governor Smt. Maurya directed the Director General of Health to adopt the best practices being done in other states regarding the prevention of covid in the state as far as possible. Women and children especially should be made aware about social distancing, wearing of masks, sanitization and cleanliness.
District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Kumar Srivastava, Director General of Health Dr. Amita Upreti, various officers of Health Department and Red Cross Committee, Additional Secretary Raj Bhavan Mr. Jitendra Kumar Sonkar were present on this occasion.
