Members of the State Advisory Board for Persons with Disabilities paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), at Lok Bhavan on Thursday.

During the meeting, the Board members discussed various issues concerning persons with disabilities with the Governor. They apprised him of the initiatives being undertaken for the protection of the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities, as well as efforts in the areas of education, employment, empowerment and their integration into the mainstream of society.

The Governor said that persons with disabilities are an integral part of society. He emphasised that coordinated efforts at all levels are essential to ensure their dignity, rights and self-reliance. He also stressed the need to ensure that the benefits of various government schemes, facilities and welfare measures reach the maximum number of eligible beneficiaries.

Those who called on the Governor included Mr. Brij Mohan Singh, Mr. Bharat Singh and Mr. Kishore Bahuguna, members of the State Advisory Board for Persons with Disabilities.
