Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) met Professor Shiv Shankar Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University, Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, at Lok Bhavan on Monday. The meeting focused on various issues related to the preservation, promotion, and propagation of the Sanskrit language.
On the occasion, the Governor said that Sanskrit is not merely a language but the foundation of India’s ancient knowledge tradition, culture, and civilization. He described Sanskrit as an invaluable heritage and a vast repository of knowledge, emphasizing the need to make it accessible to the younger generation in ways that align with contemporary needs.
The Governor further stated that this is an era of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern technology. In such a time, he stressed the importance of integrating technology with the study, research, and promotion of Sanskrit so that its scientific value and rich intellectual tradition gain greater recognition at the global level.
He also suggested that Maharshi Panini Sanskrit and Vedic University and Uttarakhand Sanskrit University sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen academic and research collaboration. The Governor said that the joint efforts of both universities could open new avenues in Sanskrit education, Vedic studies, research, and innovation.
