Governor Pays Tribute to Brave Martyrs on the Eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas

On the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) paid heartfelt tribute to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation. He said that the Kargil Victory remains a shining chapter in India’s military history, symbolising the unparalleled valour, indomitable courage, and unwavering patriotism of the Indian Armed Forces.

In his message, the Governor said that the Kargil War demonstrated to the world the Indian Army’s exceptional bravery, strategic excellence, and resolute determination. Despite extremely challenging terrain and harsh conditions, India’s brave soldiers displayed extraordinary courage in defending the motherland and decisively foiled the enemy’s designs. He described the victory as a historic testament to the heroism of the nation’s soldiers and the collective resolve of the people of India.

The Governor noted that the glorious victory came at the cost of the supreme sacrifice of many brave soldiers. He also paid tribute to the valiant sons of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand, who displayed exceptional courage on the heights of Kargil and laid down their lives in defence of the motherland. Their sacrifice, he said, will continue to inspire generations with the ideals of patriotism, duty, and selfless service to the nation.

The Governor further stated that the Indian Armed Forces have consistently upheld the nation’s honour through their courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment in the face of every challenge. He said the sacrifices of the immortal heroes of Kargil will forever remain etched in the nation’s collective consciousness, inspiring future generations to serve the country with dedication and devotion.
