Governor Addresses 15th Young Thinkers Meet: Youth Are the Architects of India’s Intellectual Future

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) attended the valedictory session of the 15th Young Thinkers Meet as the Chief Guest at Lekhak Gaon, Thano, Dehradun, on Sunday. The three-day event, organised by the India Foundation, brought together young thinkers from across the country.
Addressing the concluding session on the theme “War and Narratives,” the Governor said he was pleased to interact with some of the country’s finest young minds. He remarked that each participant represents the aspirations and expectations of millions of Indians and therefore carries the significant responsibility of shaping the nation’s future.
The Governor said that India possesses the world’s largest youth population, and this “Amrit Generation” will play a decisive role in realising the vision of a Developed India (Viksit Bharat) by 2047 and establishing the country as a global leader. He noted that future conflicts will not be confined to borders but will also be fought through narratives, ideas, and information. Therefore, he urged young people to build a strong national narrative rooted in truth, research, and facts.
He said today’s youth are not merely consumers of information but creators of ideas and guides for society. A true thinker and researcher, he added, is one who looks beyond the present to anticipate future challenges and opportunities. He encouraged young participants to develop expertise in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, the Metaverse, Cybersecurity, Semiconductors, and other advanced fields, enabling India to emerge as a global leader in knowledge, innovation, and technology.
The Governor emphasised that India’s ancient knowledge tradition is its greatest strength. The inspiration of the nation’s great leaders, he said, is deeply embedded in India’s cultural and intellectual DNA. He called upon the youth to harmonise India’s rich cultural heritage with modern science and technology and take the lead in creating a strong, positive, and truth-based narrative for a developed India.
Expressing confidence in the outcomes of the event, the Governor said the ideas generated during the 15th Young Thinkers Meet would provide new direction to India’s intellectual future and empower young people to become the architects of a strong national narrative for a developed India. He also felicitated the young thinkers during the programme.
Former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, India Foundation President Dr. Ram Madhav, along with experts, academicians, and young thinkers from across the country, were present on the occasion.
