The Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), was paid a courtesy visit on Wednesday at Lok Bhavan by Professor (Dr.) Tripta Thakur, Vice-Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University. During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor gave a presentation to the Governor on the university’s academic and research activities, as well as its efforts to strengthen the role of technology in the overall development of Uttarakhand.

The Governor directed the university to align technical education with the state’s broader development needs. He emphasized that, to make young people future-ready and industry-ready, the university should promote skill development, innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship in line with industry requirements. He also instructed the university to organize programmes aimed at promoting women’s technological empowerment, digital skill development, and innovation-driven entrepreneurship.

Additional Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Reena Joshi, was also present on the occasion.
