Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the “Seva Pakhwada” programme held on Saturday at the IDPL Ground in Rishikesh. The event witnessed the participation of more than 20,000 people. Citizens from different regions welcomed the Governor and the Chief Minister with flower petals and congratulated the Chief Minister on completing five successful years in office.

As part of Seva Pakhwada, a multi-purpose public service camp was organized where various government departments from the districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, and Tehri jointly provided services. Under the “Integrated Effort” initiative, public grievances were addressed on the spot, and eligible beneficiaries received the benefits of various government welfare schemes.

Departments also set up information stalls to educate citizens about government welfare programmes while facilitating on-the-spot enrolment and delivery of benefits. This enabled people to access services from multiple departments at a single location.

A large health camp organized during the programme provided medical examinations and treatment to 1,009 patients suffering from serious and chronic illnesses. This included treatment for 212 orthopedic patients, 70 gynecology patients, and 81 patients with eye, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) ailments. In addition, 13 children were vaccinated, 15 Ayushman Cards and 20 ABHA Cards were issued. A total of 95 X-rays and 70 blood tests were conducted. The AYUSH Department examined 310 people and distributed medicines free of cost. Online registration for 23 disability certificates was also completed.

The Social Welfare Department approved pensions for 75 beneficiaries, including widows, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, and issued 10 UDID (Unique Disability ID) cards. Additionally, 280 persons with disabilities received assistive devices. Departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Industries, Dairy Development, Fisheries, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry, and the Lead Bank collectively extended the benefits of their respective schemes to over 1,200 beneficiaries.

    Awards and Recognition

The Governor and the Chief Minister honoured outstanding small-scale industries, self-help groups (SHGs), and beneficiaries of various government schemes for their exemplary contributions. Under the Cooperative Department, five registered self-help groups were awarded ₹5 lakh each by the Chief Minister in recognition of their excellent work.

Additionally, three young people from the districts of Almora, Dehradun, and Tehri, who had received training through the Skill Development and Employment Department and were selected for jobs in Japan, were felicitated by the Chief Minister. The selected candidates secured employment with a salary package of approximately ₹1 lakh per month, an achievement described as an inspiring milestone for the youth of the state.

The Governor and the Chief Minister also honoured one beneficiary each from the Fisheries, Horticulture, and Dairy Development Departments, as well as three beneficiaries from the Industries Department, for their outstanding performance and notable achievements in their respective fields.
