A Women’s Health Awareness Programme was organized at Lok Bhavan, Nainital, by the First Lady, Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur, for women staff members working at Lok Bhavan, including sanitation workers and women associated with the Horticulture and PWD departments. The objective of the programme was to create awareness among women regarding health-related issues and to establish dialogue on their health concerns and problems.

The keynote speaker at the programme was Dr. Draupadi Garbyal, Gynecologist at B.D. Pandey Hospital, who provided detailed information on various women’s health topics. She raised awareness about breast cancer, cervical cancer, personal and menstrual hygiene, care during pregnancy, and various government schemes and benefits available for women. She also encouraged women to undergo regular health check-ups and remain conscious about their health. During the programme, the women present shared their health-related and other concerns.

First Lady Mrs. Gurmeet Kaur elaborated on the importance of women’s health and self-reliance. She said that women are the backbone of the family and society, and their role is not limited only to household responsibilities; rather, they make significant contributions to the overall development of society. Therefore, it is extremely important for women to remain physically and mentally healthy.

She stated that women often neglect their own health while fulfilling family responsibilities, whereas maintaining personal health is equally important. She emphasized that only when women take care of themselves, undergo timely health check-ups, and adopt a balanced lifestyle, will they be able to take better care of their families.

The First Lady encouraged the women present to openly share their problems and assured them that every possible effort would be made to resolve their issues. She added that, if required, coordination with the concerned departments would be ensured for appropriate action.

On this occasion, Additional Secretary Mrs. Reena Joshi, Financial Controller Dr. Tripti Srivastava, along with women employees of Lok Bhavan and their family members, were present.
