Governor Participates in Bird Watching at Lok Bhavan, Emphasizes Public Participation in Nature Conservation

Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) participated in a bird-watching session on Saturday morning in the Lok Bhavan campus and golf course area. During the session, he observed various bird species and gathered information about their natural habitats, behavior, feeding patterns, and environmental significance.
Experts present on the occasion also shared information about the flora, butterflies, and bird species found in the Lok Bhavan region and highlighted their importance in maintaining the ecological balance.
During the bird-watching session, several bird species were observed, including the Blue Whistling Thrush, Coal Tit, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Green-backed Tit, Kalij Pheasant, Small Niltava, and Eurasian Jay. Participants were also introduced to different tree species such as Banj Oak, Ringal, Deodar, Pangar, and Maple, along with butterfly species including the Hill Jezebel, Indian Cabbage White, and Common Wood Brown.
The Governor stated that the conservation of nature and biodiversity cannot be achieved solely through government efforts and requires active public participation. He called for collective efforts towards environmental conservation, sensitivity toward wildlife, and maintaining ecological balance. Appreciating the initiatives being undertaken in the field of biodiversity conservation, he urged people to fulfill their responsibility towards protecting nature.
Divisional Forest Officer Akash Gangwar, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer Mamta Chand, along with officials from the Nainital Forest Division and the Lok Bhavan team, were present during the program.
