Lok Bhavan Dehradun 14 May, 2026

Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) inaugurated the “AI Theme Room” and flagged off the “AI on Wheels” vehicle at Lok Bhavan on Wednesday. On the occasion, the Governor said that a new technological revolution has begun in Uttarakhand and that this transformation is being led by the youth and the “Amrit Generation” of the country. He stated that India has recognized the vision of the 21st century and the goal of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” and that the youth of the nation are now driving this vision forward.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor described “technological sovereignty” as extremely important for India’s future. He said that to protect the nation from technological dependency and digital vulnerability, research, innovation, startups, and entrepreneurship must begin at the youth level itself. Calling upon young people to become creators rather than merely consumers of technology, he urged them to contribute towards building an Atmanirbhar Bharat through innovation and research.

The Governor said that the “AI Theme Room” would emerge as a vibrant centre for innovation, research, and public participation, where youth would not only learn to use technology but also develop solutions to real-world problems. He expressed confidence that startups and research emerging from this initiative would provide a new technological direction to Uttarakhand.

Appreciating the “AI on Wheels” initiative, the Governor said that this mobile AI centre would help deliver modern technological education to students living in remote mountainous regions and distant villages of the state. He added that the initiative would help bridge the digital divide and ensure access to technology for the last person in society.

The Governor congratulated the young innovators of Techno Hub Engineering, especially Siddharth Madhav and his team, stating that the technological movement initiated by them would spread the light of innovation and technological awareness throughout the state. A live robotics demonstration was also presented during the programme, where robots distributed souvenirs to children, becoming a major attraction of the event.

Among those present on the occasion were Director of the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing Dr. R. P. Singh, Secretary to Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, Director ITDA Alok Kumar Pandey, Director General UCOST Prof. Durgesh Pant, Vice Chancellor of Doon University Prof. Surekha Dangwal, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Technical University Prof. Tripta Thakur, along with other distinguished guests, college students, and school children.
