    Governor Appoints Vice Chancellor of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology

    Hon’ble Governor and Chancellor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) has appointed Prof. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap as the Vice Chancellor of Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar.

    Prof. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap has been appointed for a term of three years from the date of assuming charge, or until attaining the age of 70 years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving at the College of Agriculture, GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology.

    Prof. Shivendra Kumar Kashyap is a distinguished academician, widely recognized for his contributions to agricultural education. He has received several prestigious honours, including the ICAR Best Teacher Award.

    He has held multiple key positions at Pantnagar University, including Professor, Head of the Department of Agricultural Communication, Dean of the College of Agriculture, Principal Investigator of the World Bank-funded NAHEP project, Principal Investigator of the DST-TEC project, and leadership roles in several other initiatives.

    He was selected for the national-level LEAP (Leadership in Education) program by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, under which he received advanced training at the University of Hyderabad and Monash University as a future academic leader.

    Since 2019, he has been serving as Chairman of the Ranking Team at Pantnagar University. Under his leadership, the university secured the top position among State Agricultural Universities in ICAR rankings, received the ICAR Best Institution Award, and significantly improved its national ranking. The university also established its presence in global QS rankings under his coordination.

    Under the NAHEP project, he led a multidisciplinary team of 80 faculty members representing all colleges for five years. Through this initiative, 40 faculty members and 200 students received international training and exposure.

    Demonstrating visionary leadership, he initiated several key developments using project funds, including India’s first Pantnagar Museum, 65 smart classrooms during the COVID period, infrastructure for soft skills and advanced training, virtual labs, and a Faculty Development Centre approved by the Board of Management. These initiatives continue to benefit the university.

    He has developed and implemented over 1,500 soft skills training sessions covering curriculum development, teaching skills, administrative skills, leadership, listening skills, management communication, and language skills, benefiting faculty and students across the country.

    Prof. Kashyap has authored more than 25 books and 55 research papers and has established a strong institutional network with over 75 leading international universities.
