    The Vice President of India Shri C P Radhakrishnan today addressed the sixth convocation ceremony of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS at Rishikesh Highlighting the spiritual and cultural significance of Rishikesh as the gateway to the Himalayas and a global center for reflection and healing he said that such an environment enhances the dignity of the convocation ceremony

    The Vice President said that a convocation ceremony is not only the culmination of years of disciplined effort and sacrifice but also the beginning of a great responsibility towards society and the nation He urged the graduates to perform their professional duties with dedication and a sense of purpose

    Reflecting on the challenges posed by the Covid nineteen pandemic the Vice President said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi India demonstrated continuous innovation and commitment He highlighted the large scale vaccination campaign stating that more than fourteen crore citizens were given free vaccines ensuring equitable access to healthcare He noted that Indian scientists developed vaccines not for profit but for the welfare of humanity

    The Vice President also emphasized India global responsibility through the Vaccine Maitri initiative under which vaccines were supplied to more than one hundred countries He said that this reflects the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and strengthens India role as a compassionate and responsible global partner

    Highlighting the expansion of healthcare infrastructure the Vice President said that new AIIMS institutions established across the country in the past decade have strengthened access to quality healthcare and medical education He added that good governance lies in understanding and serving the needs of the people

    Praising AIIMS Rishikesh he said that the institute is setting an example of excellence in clinical care academic capacity research innovation and social commitment He particularly appreciated telemedicine initiatives and said that healthcare must extend beyond hospital campuses to reach remote and underserved populations

    The Vice President also commended innovative healthcare services such as heli ambulance services and the use of drones for medicine delivery during the Char Dham Yatra and in remote areas calling them effective solutions to long standing challenges in healthcare delivery

    He highlighted rapid infrastructure development in the region including the Delhi Dehradun Expressway and praised the efforts of the Uttarakhand government under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in promoting inclusive development strengthening infrastructure and improving healthcare access

    The Vice President emphasized that healthcare is a public responsibility and that medical professionals play a crucial role in nation building He urged graduating doctors to contribute through preventive care rural outreach research and innovation while upholding the values of compassion honesty and service

    On this occasion Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh Retired warmly welcomed the Vice President to Devbhoomi Uttarakhand and expressed confidence that his guidance would inspire young doctors towards national service

    The Governor said that convocation is a celebration of dedication commitment and service and marks the moment when years of hard work transform into new responsibilities Congratulating the graduates he said that their success reflects the sacrifices of parents guidance of teachers and expectations of the nation

    He noted that the medical field is rapidly evolving with artificial intelligence digital health and modern research methods making healthcare more effective He said that AIIMS Rishikesh is playing a significant role in preparing the healthcare system for the future

    Addressing young doctors the Governor said that medicine is not just a profession but a field of service and compassion Patients come not only with illness but also with trust and hope and it is the behavior empathy and dedication of doctors that provide reassurance and confidence

    He said that healthcare accessibility in the mountainous regions of Uttarakhand remains a challenge and urged young doctors to transform these challenges into opportunities by serving in remote areas and building trust in society He called upon them to uphold ethics honesty and service as the highest values and to consider patient trust as their greatest asset

    Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated all graduating students and said that this occasion marks the beginning of a new chapter in their lives He said their contribution in the field of medicine will play a vital role in society and nation building

    The Chief Minister welcomed the Vice President on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand and praised his simplicity dedication to public service and inspiring life journey He said his guidance would motivate young doctors

    The Chief Minister said that the medical profession is not merely a career but the highest form of service to humanity which must be carried out with dedication sensitivity and compassion He noted that AIIMS Rishikesh established under former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has become a vital lifesaving institution for the state offering advanced facilities such as cancer treatment neurosurgery robotic surgery and joint replacement He added that heli ambulance services are playing an important role in providing emergency healthcare in remote areas

    He further stated that construction of a satellite center of AIIMS Rishikesh in Udham Singh Nagar is in progress which will benefit the people of the Kumaon region

    The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi the state government is committed to strengthening healthcare services Efforts are being made to establish medical colleges in every district expand telemedicine networks provide affordable medicines through Jan Aushadhi centers and offer free pathological tests

    Union Minister of State for Health Smt Anupriya Patel while addressing the graduating doctors said that the medical profession is not just a career but the highest form of service to humanity She urged them to maintain patient trust and always prioritize patient welfare while upholding ethics and honesty

    She emphasized the importance of lifelong learning in the ever evolving medical field to ensure better treatment outcomes She also highlighted the importance of effective communication with patients stating that it strengthens trust and improves treatment results
