    Governor Visits Ancestral Village in Amritsar; Interacts with Residents and Students

    Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) visited his ancestral village, Jalal Usman, in Amritsar, Punjab today. He received a warm and heartfelt welcome from the villagers. The Governor became emotional upon returning to his roots and said that this place has been the foundation of inspiration in his life.

    The Governor paid obeisance at Gurdwara Baba Sri Chand Ji and offered prayers for the prosperity and well-being of the nation and the state. He expressed his deep connection with the village, stating that it is the place where he and his family belong. He added that the blessings of this land have played a significant role in his journey.

    During his visit, the Governor interacted warmly with the villagers, attentively listening to their suggestions and expectations. He described the simplicity, warmth, and values of village life as the true foundation of character.

    The Governor also visited the Government Senior Secondary School, Jalal Usman, where he interacted with students and encouraged them to dream big and work hard. He stated that children are the future of the nation and must move forward with strong values and character. Referring to Punjab’s legacy of bravery and patriotism, he advised students to remain connected to their roots and draw inspiration from the lives of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, Guru Tegh Bahadur, and Guru Gobind Singh.

    To enhance school facilities, the Governor donated computers and presented 108 books for the library. He emphasized that along with formal education, reading plays a crucial role in the holistic development of children. He also felicitated meritorious students with certificates.

    In his concluding remarks, the Governor said that his connection with the village and education is not only emotional but also a responsibility. He expressed confidence that the children of the village will achieve great success and bring pride to their families, the state, and the nation.
