Governor Honors Personnel for Outstanding Work During Disaster

Lok Bhavan Dehradun 01 April, 2026

The Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), honored personnel from Dehradun district for their exemplary service during a disaster at a felicitation ceremony held at Lok Bhavan today. He appreciated their dedication and sense of duty, describing them as a source of inspiration for others.

It is noteworthy that on the night of September 15–16, 2025, heavy rainfall and a cloudburst in the Sahastradhara–Karligad area of Dehradun district led to severe flood-like conditions. Immediately after the incident, the district administration responded promptly and initiated relief and rescue operations. Several personnel demonstrated exceptional commitment during this crisis and were recognized by the Governor.

The officials and staff honored on the occasion included Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Additional District Magistrate Krishna Kumar Mishra, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Har Giri, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Judicial) Smt. Kumkum Joshi, Deputy Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Aswal, Senior Medical Officer Dr. M.A. Bhatt, Junior Assistant (District Information Office Dehradun) Indresh Kothari, Lineman (UPCL Dehradun) Aman, and Junior Engineer (PWD Dehradun) Pradeep Shahi.

On this occasion, the Governor specially appreciated District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal, stating that he acted as a “frontline leader” during the crisis, providing effective leadership and demonstrating excellent coordination and responsiveness along with his team. He also lauded the initiative of the district administration in recognizing outstanding personnel, noting that such efforts motivate others to perform better.

The Governor emphasized that disaster management and preparedness must be given the highest priority. He noted that during such challenging times, soldiers, security forces, administrative officers, and other personnel serve selflessly, often putting aside their own comfort and safety in service of society and the nation. Their dedication and sacrifice, he said, are truly inspirational.

The event was attended by Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Smt. Reena Joshi, District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal, and Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah.
