On the second day of his two-day visit to Pauri district, the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), participated in public welfare activities, inspected the District Hospital to assess healthcare services, and inaugurated the District Library, where he interacted with students and readers.

The Governor began his visit at the District Hospital, where he conducted a detailed inspection of healthcare facilities, treatment arrangements, and infrastructure. He interacted with admitted patients and their attendants to understand the availability of medical services, medicines, and the behavior of doctors. He emphasized that providing timely, compassionate, and quality healthcare services must remain the highest priority.

He also engaged with doctors, staff nurses, and other healthcare personnel to understand their experiences, working conditions, and available resources. Appreciating their dedication, he stated that real progress in healthcare can only be achieved by combining technological advancements with human sensitivity.

During the inspection, the Governor reviewed the ICU, digital X-ray unit, and CT scan facility. He sought suggestions from the Chief Medical Superintendent for further improvement and directed that a list of required equipment be submitted promptly. He emphasized maximizing the use of modern technologies to transform the district hospital into a future-ready, high-quality healthcare center, including further upgrading ICU facilities.

Subsequently, the Governor formally inaugurated the District Library. District Magistrate Swati S. Bhadoria welcomed him with a bouquet and a memento. Detailed information was presented regarding the library’s modern infrastructure, including books, furniture, reading facilities, book storage, Wi-Fi zone, drinking water arrangements, and hill-style architectural design integrated with the clock tower. The Governor appreciated the arrangements and described the library as an important center for intellectual growth.

Interacting with students, the Governor inquired about their studies, career plans, and aspirations. He encouraged them to move forward with positive thinking, clear goals, and consistent effort, stating that “thoughts, clarity of vision, and strong belief determine the path to success.”

Students shared their preparation for competitive examinations and expressed gratitude for the modern facilities provided. The Governor motivated them to maintain discipline, regular study habits, and a positive mindset. Sharing his own experiences, he emphasized that a library is not just a collection of books but a center for knowledge and personality development.

He expressed happiness at engaging in discussions on education and learning, noting that while education is evolving, Uttarakhand uniquely blends spirituality with knowledge. He also highlighted that Pauri has produced distinguished personalities such as the first and second Chiefs of Defence Staff, a National Security Advisor, and a Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Encouraging students to work in mission mode, he advised them to set clear goals and dream big with open eyes. He also emphasized the importance of good company in achieving success. On the occasion, he announced the donation of one computer, two tablets, 108 books, and a coffee machine for the district library. Students expressed great enthusiasm and gratitude for the interaction.

It is noteworthy that under the direction of the District Magistrate, the library has been strengthened and modernized with an investment of approximately ₹55 lakh under the district plan. Developments include renovation of the clock tower, pathways, railings, modern furniture, repairs, drinking water facilities, and upgraded sanitation infrastructure, transforming it into a modern and well-equipped study center.

During his visit, the Governor also visited Ransi Stadium and interacted with athletes from various age groups undergoing training. He encouraged players, including those selected at international levels, to utilize available sports infrastructure effectively and maintain discipline and consistent practice.
