The Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), on Wednesday launched the ‘Pragyanam’ AI chatbot developed by Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University at Lok Bhavan.

‘Pragyanam’ is a significant initiative aimed at integrating India’s rich knowledge tradition with modern technology. The AI chatbot is designed to provide quick, accurate, and context-based responses to queries related to the Indian Knowledge System. It has been developed under the “One University–One Research” initiative, based on extensive research and content presented at national and international conferences.

The chatbot is built on a comprehensive database covering subjects such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, ancient Indian mathematics, Natyashastra, music, Ayurveda, philosophy, and Indian sciences. Its objective is to make authentic knowledge accessible in a simple and efficient manner to students, researchers, and the general public. The chatbot is now available online at https://pragyanam.live/ for easy access.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor stated that India’s rich knowledge heritage embedded in ancient texts and civilization remains highly relevant even today. He emphasized that platforms like ‘Pragyanam’ will effectively connect this invaluable knowledge with 21st-century technology, making it accessible to the younger generation. He added that the chatbot will not only answer queries but also provide research-based, authentic insights into India’s intellectual depth.

Appreciating the efforts of the university, the Governor noted that the chatbot is the result of a year of intensive research, including the development of scholarly content and publications. He highlighted that national and international conferences helped build a strong foundation for this project.

The Governor further stated that as today’s youth are closely connected with technology, ‘Pragyanam’ will serve as an effective medium to reconnect them with their cultural roots and spiritual heritage. He urged everyone to act as brand ambassadors for this initiative and take this knowledge-driven platform from Uttarakhand to the global stage.

On the occasion, Higher Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat congratulated the university and stated that students, researchers, and citizens across the world will benefit from easy digital access to Indian knowledge traditions. Vice Chancellor Prof. N.K. Joshi presented a detailed demonstration of the chatbot and explained its functionality and applications.

The event was graced by the presence of saints and academicians. Among those present were Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Vice Chancellor of Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Horticulture and Forestry University Dr. Parvinder Kaushal, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University Prof. Ramakant Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University Prof. Arun Kumar Tripathi, along with several spiritual leaders, students, and distinguished guests.
