Lok Bhavan Dehradun 24 March, 2026

Honey was extracted on Tuesday from the beekeeping boxes installed at Lok Bhavan. In the first phase this year, approximately 41 kilograms of honey was produced from 15 boxes. These bee boxes were installed in the Lok Bhavan परिसर during the flower exhibition and house bees of the Apis mellifera species.

On this occasion, the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), observed the honey bee processing procedure. He stated that beekeeping can play a significant role in economically empowering the people of the state. He expressed confidence that in the coming years, Uttarakhand honey will establish a distinct identity at the global level and emerge as a strong brand.

The Governor further emphasized that along with being a major tourism destination, Uttarakhand should actively promote beekeeping on a large scale. He noted that the state is blessed with rich biodiversity, including medicinal and aromatic plants, as well as vast potential for organic and natural farming, which can further support the growth of beekeeping.

The occasion was attended by the First Lady Smt. Gurmit Kaur, Horticulture Officer Deepak Purohit, National Bee Board Member Ajay Saini, and other officials.
