A program was organized at Lok Bhavan on Monday to mark Bihar Day (March 22). The event witnessed participation from residents of Bihar living in Uttarakhand, along with senior government officials serving in the state.
During the program, the Bihari Mahasabha presented vibrant cultural performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Bihar. A captivating folk dance performance by young girls especially drew appreciation and emerged as a key highlight of the event.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), stated that the land of Bihar has been a priceless repository of knowledge, spirituality, culture, and history. Referring to Bihar’s historical legacy, he noted that it is the sacred land where Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavira delivered the message of knowledge and non-violence, and from where globally renowned institutions like Nalanda University spread the light of learning across the world.
The Governor emphasized that strengthening the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” requires understanding and embracing the cultural uniqueness of all states. Such events not only promote cultural exchange among states but also reinforce national unity and integrity. He further added that Bihar has made significant contributions to the nation’s development across various sectors including governance, administration, education, and healthcare.
The event was attended by the First Lady Smt. Gurmit Kaur, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, Special Principal Secretary Amit Kumar Sinha, Additional Director General of Police A.P. Anshuman, Secretary Nitesh Jha, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Kaushal Kishore Shukla, Additional Secretary to the Governor Smt. Reena Joshi, President of Bihari Mahasabha Lalan Singh, Secretary Chandan Kumar Jha, Treasurer Ritesh Kumar, Dr. Ram Vinay Singh, and other distinguished guests. The program was conducted by Finance Controller Dr. Tripti Srivastava.
