Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University Develops ‘Pragyanam’ AI Chatbot; Launch Soon

In an important step towards integrating India’s traditional knowledge systems with modern technology, Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University has developed an AI-based chatbot named “Pragyanam,” which will soon be launched for public use. The chatbot will be capable of providing quick and context-based responses to queries related to the Indian Knowledge System.
In this regard, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. N. K. Joshi, presented a detailed demonstration of the Pragyanam AI Chatbot before the Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), at Lok Bhavan. He shared insights into its functioning, features, and potential applications.
Prof. Joshi explained that Pragyanam represents a unique convergence of ancient Indian wisdom and modern artificial intelligence. The chatbot has been developed using an extensive database based on subjects related to the Indian Knowledge System, including the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, ancient Indian mathematics, Ayurveda, philosophy, and Indian scientific traditions. The objective is to provide students, researchers, and the general public with authentic information about India’s knowledge heritage through a digital and easily accessible platform.
He added that the use of technology is essential to connect the younger generation with India’s rich intellectual heritage, and Pragyanam is a significant step in this direction. The chatbot will serve as a digital knowledge assistant for students, teachers, and researchers, and will also support the integration of the Indian Knowledge System within the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP).
The Governor appreciated the initiative of the University and described it as an excellent example of the synergy between knowledge and technology. He said that Uttarakhand, known as Devbhoomi and a historic centre of knowledge and spiritual learning, developing such an innovative technological tool is inspiring for the entire nation.
According to the University administration, the Pragyanam AI Chatbot will soon be made available through the University’s official website, enabling students, researchers, and citizens from across the country and abroad to easily access and learn about India’s traditional knowledge systems through digital means.
