    A Cultural Evening was organised on the first day of Vasantotsav–2026 at Lok Bhavan, Dehradun. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

    The Cultural Evening, organised by the Department of Culture, showcased the rich folk traditions and cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. The programme featured colourful performances including the Kumaoni folk song “Gorkhya Cheli Bhaguli,” the Garhwali folk song “Mera Baju Ranga ranga Bichari,” the Jaunsari folk song “Ko Desh Ko Batoi,” the Tharu tribal folk presentation “Kheti-Khalihan” based on “Dekho Gaon Ke Kinare,” and the traditional Kumaoni Baithaki Holi “Meri Nath Garh De,” among others.

    Through these traditional songs and dances, a vibrant depiction of the folk culture and rural life of Uttarakhand was presented. The artists captivated the audience with their outstanding performances, and the gathering enjoyed the evening with great enthusiasm.

    First Lady Smt. Gurmit Kaur, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Secretary Culture Yugal Kishore Pant, Additional Secretary to the Governor Smt. Reena Joshi, Director of Horticulture S.L. Semwal and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
