Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) was paid a courtesy call on Tuesday at Lok Bhavan by Prof. Surekha Dangwal, Vice-Chancellor, Doon University. On this occasion, the Governor directed that Vasantotsav–2026, scheduled to be held at Lok Bhavan from February 27 to March 01, be widely publicised through the Department of Media and Mass Communication of the University.

The Governor instructed that the event be promoted through live streaming and social media platforms to ensure that information about the festival reaches the general public. He noted that in the previous year as well, the Department of Media and Mass Communication, Doon University, had successfully carried out live broadcasting and comprehensive coverage of the event.

The Governor stated that Uttarakhand’s flowers have a distinct identity, which is a great asset for the state. He added that new avenues of economic development can be explored through floriculture. He further directed the Department of Economics of the University to undertake research and provide suggestions on linking the event with economic activities. He also instructed that detailed documentation of the entire event be carried out.

On this occasion, Prof. Rajendra Prasad Mamgain, Head of the Department of Economics, and Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Head of the Department of Media and Mass Communication, was also present.
