The Hon’ble Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), felicitated NCC cadets from Uttarakhand who participated in the Republic Day Parade, during a felicitation ceremony organised at Lok Bhavan.
This year, a total of 172 NCC cadets from Uttarakhand participated in the Republic Day Parade and related activities held at Kartavya Path, New Delhi. Cadet Mansi Vishwakarma from Uttarakhand led the Girls’ Contingent as the Parade Commander. In addition, NCC cadets from Uttarakhand also took part in the Prime Minister’s Rally held on 28 January, 2026 at Cariappa Parade Ground, Delhi Cantt., where Senior Under Officer Cadet Utkarsh Sharma performed the role of Parade Commander.
Addressing the cadets, the Governor said that participation in national camps and the Republic Day Parade is a result of their discipline, hard work, and dedication. Being part of such prestigious national events is a matter of pride and becomes a lifelong memory. He added that the experiences gained through these platforms inspire cadets to work for the nation and society with confidence and commitment.
The Governor said that selection for an occasion as significant as Republic Day reflects the cadets’ strong determination and continuous practice. He noted that NCC cadets from Uttarakhand have established a distinct identity due to their excellent training and discipline. Emphasising the NCC ethos, he said that the values of unity and discipline imparted through NCC must be adopted throughout life, as NCC activities play an important role in character building and personality development.
Praising Cadet Mansi Vishwakarma, Parade Commander of the Girls’ Contingent, the Governor said that by leading at Kartavya Path, she has demonstrated that today’s Indian women are not merely participants but leaders. He described her as a symbol of the strength, confidence, and capability of the daughters of Uttarakhand, and an inspiration for future generations.
The Governor also appreciated the achievement of Cadet Prince Singh Rana, who was awarded the Raksha Mantri Medal for his outstanding performance in drone training. He said that this accomplishment reflects the preparedness of youth for future warfare technologies, innovation, and the security challenges of the 21st century.
Highlighting the relevance of modern technology, the Governor said that today’s era is defined by rapid technological transformation, where drones, robotics, artificial intelligence, and precision warfare have special importance. He remarked that NCC cadets from Uttarakhand have proved their competence not only in traditional military discipline but also in modern technologies and future challenges. He described the cadets as symbols of the nation’s valour, resolve, and leadership.
During the programme, officers from the NCC Directorate briefed the Governor on the entire process, from the selection of cadets to their participation in Republic Day events. The Governor also interacted with the cadets and learned about their experiences. On the occasion, NCC cadets presented cultural dance performances, which were widely appreciated.
Congratulating the cadets on their achievements, the Governor extended his best wishes for their future endeavours. The programme was attended by the First Lady, Smt.
