The Hon’ble Governor, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), met Shri Mohan Singh Bisht, a fisheries entrepreneur from Village Lwani, Development Block Dewal, District Chamoli, at Lok Bhavan today.
Shri Mohan Singh Bisht has been engaged in trout fish farming in Development Block Dewal since 2017. Through his initiative, he has been providing self-employment opportunities to local residents, particularly youth, in the fisheries sector.
During the interaction, Shri Bisht informed the Hon’ble Governor that there is high market demand for trout fish, and the fish produced by him is being supplied to ITBP and SSB. He further shared that fisheries has become a sustainable source of income for him. He also requested support to initiate integrated farming in his village.
The Hon’ble Governor appreciated the efforts of Shri Mohan Singh Bisht and stated that trout fish farming has significant potential in Uttarakhand to strengthen the rural economy and connect youth with self-employment. He emphasized motivating more youth to adopt such ventures and to avail the benefits of government schemes. The Governor remarked that such startups and self-employment initiatives contribute significantly to income enhancement.
The Hon’ble Governor described Shri Bisht’s efforts as an exemplary initiative for Uttarakhand and encouraged him to continue working in the same direction. He said that innovative thinking and entrepreneurship play a vital role in promoting economic prosperity and self-reliance in rural areas.
