    Governor hoists National Flag at Lok Bhavan and Parade Ground on the occasion of Republic Day

    Governor and Chief Minister honour police personnel and officers for meritorious service at Parade Ground

    Information Department tableau adjudged First; Sanskrit Education Department Second and School Education Department Third

    CRPF secures First position in marching contingents, followed by ITBP and 14th Dogra Regiment

    On the occasion of Republic Day, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), hoisted the National Flag at the main Republic Day ceremony held at the Parade Ground, Dehradun, and took the salute of the ceremonial parade. During the ceremony, the Governor and Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami honoured police officers and various officials with medals and commendations for their exemplary and meritorious services.

    During the Republic Day celebrations at the Parade Ground, several departments showcased colourful and thematic tableaux. These included tableaux presented by the Information Department on the theme “Uttarakhand Silver Jubilee and Winter Religious Tourism”, along with displays by the Women Empowerment and Child Development Department, Rural Development Department, Tourism Department, Horticulture Department, School Education Department, Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA), Forest Department, Industries Department, and Sanskrit Education Department, highlighting various government schemes, programmes and policies.

    In the tableau competition, the Information Department secured the First Prize, the Sanskrit Education Department was awarded Second Prize, and the School Education Department received the Third Prize. The awards were presented by the Governor and the Chief Minister.

    The ceremonial parade featured contingents from the 14th Dogra Regiment (Indian Army), CRPF, ITBP, Himachal Pradesh Police, 40th Battalion PAC, 40th Battalion Women PAC, Uttarakhand Home Guards, Provincial Armed Constabulary, NCC Boys, NCC Girls, Mounted Police, Police Communications, Fire Services and CPU. Among the marching contingents, CRPF secured First Position, ITBP secured Second Position, and the 14th Dogra Regiment secured Third Position. The winning contingents were felicitated by the Governor and the Chief Minister.

    The Republic Day programme also witnessed captivating performances by folk artists of the state, reflecting Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage. Traditional cultural presentations such as Chholiya dance, Garhwali folk dance and Pipe Band performances enthralled the audience.

    On this occasion, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami also honoured Loktantra Senanis, families of martyrs of the Uttarakhand Statehood Movement, and Statehood activists by presenting shawls.

    The ceremony was attended by former Governor of Maharashtra and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri Bhagat Singh Koshyari, former Chief Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Smt Geeta Dhami, spouse of the Chief Minister, Cabinet Minister Shri Subodh Uniyal, MP Shri Naresh Bansal, MP Shri Mahendra Bhatt, MLA Shri Khajan Das, Mayor of Dehradun Shri Saurabh Thapliyal, Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan, Director General of Police Shri Deepam Seth, Secretary to the Governor Shri Ravinath Raman, District Magistrate Dehradun Shri Savin Bansal, SSP Shri Ajay Singh, along with senior police and administrative officers, public representatives and a large number of citizens.

    Governor hoists National Flag at Lok Bhavan

    Earlier in the day, the Governor hoisted the National Flag at Lok Bhavan and extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Republic Day.

    While interacting with the media, the Governor paid tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution, and all members of the Constituent Assembly for laying a strong democratic foundation. He also saluted the freedom fighters, martyrs, and the armed forces personnel guarding the nation’s borders and coastline.

    The Governor said that Republic Day provides an opportunity to reaffirm commitment towards strengthening constitutional values and democracy. He emphasised collective participation in achieving the vision of “Viksit Bharat 2047,” “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” and “Vishwaguru Bharat” under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

    He highlighted the positive role of Artificial Intelligence and modern technologies in addressing 21st-century challenges and nation-building. He also appreciated the efforts of women power and youth of Uttarakhand in innovation, startups and entrepreneurship.

    Calling for unity and integrity, the Governor urged all citizens to contribute actively towards national progress with the spirit of “Nation First.”
