On the auspicious occasion of the Lohri festival, a grand and joyful programme was organised at Lok Bhavan, Dehradun, with enthusiastic participation from a large number of women. The programme was presided over by the First Lady of the State, Mrs Gurmeet Kaur. On this occasion, all participants extended Lohri greetings to one another and prayed for peace, prosperity, and well-being of the nation and the state.

Addressing the gathering, Mrs Gurmeet Kaur emphasised the empowerment of matri shakti (women power) and called upon society to become more sensitive and aware towards gender justice. She stated that today women have moved far beyond traditional domestic roles and are setting new benchmarks in education, administration, science, sports, entrepreneurship, and every other field.

She urged women to actively participate in the realisation of the ideals of social justice and gender justice by strengthening their engagement in education, skill development, and leadership, thereby contributing to the creation of an equitable and empowered society.

On the occasion, Finance Controller Dr Tripti Shrivastava, Dr Pranjali Thapa, along with a large number of women participants, were present. The programme successfully combined cultural celebration with a strong message of women’s empowerment, leaving a positive impact on public consciousness.
