    07-01-2026 : IT Department Meets Governor, Progress of Uttarakhand AI Mission Reviewed.

    The Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), was paid a courtesy call on Wednesday at Lok Bhavan by the Secretary, Information Technology Department, Government of Uttarakhand, Shri Nitesh Kumar Jha, along with his team. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the progress, ongoing initiatives, and future roadmap of the Uttarakhand AI Mission.

    The Secretary, IT Department, apprised the Governor that the State Government is promoting the phased and effective adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across all departments. The objective is to enhance transparency in governance, improve the accuracy of decision-making processes, and ensure better quality and timely delivery of public services. He informed that AI-based solutions are playing a significant role in strengthening local governance, enabling data-driven policy decisions, and making citizen-centric services more efficient and responsive.

    On this occasion, the Governor stated that the year 2026 will be recognised as a decisive year for the AI revolution. He expressed confidence that Uttarakhand possesses the full potential to emerge as a leader in this transformative technology. With the synergy of the State’s youth talent, academic institutions, technological ecosystem, and administrative will, Uttarakhand can present a strong model of AI-enabled good governance.

    The Governor further emphasised that the purpose of technology should extend beyond innovation to public welfare. He stressed that the use of AI must be balanced with human sensitivity, ethical values, and traditional administrative wisdom, so that development remains inclusive, sustainable, and trustworthy.

    During the interaction, discussions were also held on strengthening collaboration among academic institutions, start-ups, and government departments, expanding capacity-building programmes, and developing Uttarakhand as a hub for AI innovation in northern India. On this occasion, Additional Secretary, IT Department and Director, ITDA, Shri Alok Kumar Pandey was also present.
