01-01-2026 : Governor offered prayers at the Durga Mata Temple and paid obeisance at the Gurdwara in Garhi Cantt, praying for the happiness, prosperity and peace of the people of the state.

On the first day of the New Year 2026, the Governor of Uttarakhand, Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), offered prayers at the Durga Mata Temple located at Survey Chowk, Dehradun, and paid obeisance at the Gurdwara in Garhi Cantt, praying for the happiness, prosperity, peace, and good health of the people of the state.

On this occasion, the Governor also interacted with the officers and soldiers of the 166 Medium Regiment of the Indian Army and extended New Year greetings to them. He said that the soldiers are the strong shield of the nation’s security, and it is because of their discipline, courage, and unwavering sense of duty that the country’s borders remain secure.

The Governor expressed hope that the New Year would become a strong medium for the holistic development, social harmony, and prosperity of Uttarakhand, bringing new inspiration for peace, public welfare, and progress in the state, and infusing every citizen’s life with positive energy, harmony, trust, and renewed hope.
