03-12-2025 : With the approval of the Hon’ble Governor, the official name of Raj Bhawan has now been changed to “Lok Bhawan”.

With the approval of the Hon’ble Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.), the official name of Raj Bhawan has now been changed to “Lok Bhawan”. In this sequence, the main gate has also been reinstalled with the new name “Lok Bhawan”.

The Governor said that in the Constitution, ‘Lok’ (the people) have been accorded the highest position. The people are the true strength of the nation; the people are the soul of democracy. He expressed confidence that Lok Bhawan will emerge as a centre of hope, sensitivity, transparency, and public service for the citizens of Uttarakhand.

The Governor stated that Lok Bhawan symbolizes the sacred spirit of service to the people—where every citizen feels a sense of belonging to this institution. He said that this building is not merely a symbol of administrative authority, but the home of aspirations, expectations, and trust of every individual in Uttarakhand. He affirmed the commitment that Lok Bhawan will truly work for the people, with the people, and in service of the people.
