    Lok Bhavan celebrated the Foundation Day of Assam and Nagaland with great enthusiasm on Tuesday. Students from Assam and Nagaland studying in Uttarakhand presented captivating and diverse cultural performances. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd.) graced the occasion and extended heartfelt greetings to the people of both states on their Foundation Day. It is noteworthy that Assam celebrates its Foundation Day on 02 December, while Nagaland observes it on 01 December.

    In his address, the Governor said that the tradition of celebrating the Foundation Days of different states strengthens social integration and enhances cultural exchange. He shared that during his service in the Indian Army, he served with the Assam Regiment and had the opportunity to be posted in several regions of Assam and Nagaland, enabling him to closely understand the local culture, lifestyle, and traditions.

    The Governor said that the initiative of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” is a celebration of India’s unity amidst immense diversity. Such events not only strengthen mutual relations but also provide an opportunity to appreciate the country’s vibrant cultural heritage. He added that these efforts are crucial in fostering cultural harmony, mutual understanding, and trust among states, which form the true foundation of India’s strength.

    He said that this occasion symbolizes the unwavering spirit of our great nation—where diversity is our strength and culture is our identity. Celebrating the Foundation Day of vibrant and prosperous states like Assam and Nagaland is not just an acknowledgement of geographical entities, but a tribute to the soul of India, united by the invaluable thread of “Unity in Diversity.”

    The event was attended by Secretary to the Governor Shri Ravinath Raman, Additional Secretary Smt. Reena Joshi, Financial Controller Dr. Tripti Srivastava, officers and employees of Lok Bhavan, and residents of Uttarakhand belonging to Assam—Berlin Borah, Rishikesh Boruah, Banjit Sharma, Prantik Deka, Gargi Borah, Pallabi, Jubu Bordoloi, Jwisna Basumatary, Tanisha, Deepika, Nayan Jyoti Kalita—and Nagaland—Lenuakum, Surji, Lulu, Tokapu, Hilika, Lunrisu, Shokum, Tuna and others.
