On Tuesday, office bearers of the REACH organisation called on Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.) at Raj Bhawan and gave a presentation regarding the annual ‘Virāsat’ Festival organised in Dehradun.

During the meeting, the officials informed that since 1995, REACH has been consistently organising the Virāsat Festival, and this prestigious festival has now completed its glorious journey of 30 years. They shared that the festival witnesses active participation of artists, entrepreneurs, and audiences from across the country, the state, and even abroad. Detailed information was also presented on the successful management of the festival, the arrangements involved, and the current challenges being faced.

The Governor said that “Virāsat”—as the name suggests—symbolises our roots, culture, and traditions. Preserving, nurturing, and passing such festivals on to the younger generation is extremely important. He appreciated the organisation’s efforts in successfully conducting this festival continuously for the past 30 years.

The Governor emphasised that financial stability is essential for any major cultural event. He suggested exploring possibilities of support through CSR, various entrepreneurs, and government institutions. He added that ONGC and other major institutions could also become key partners in this direction. He further said that greater participation of youth should be ensured so they can connect more deeply with their heritage and culture. The Governor assured that he will extend all possible support at his own level to ensure the smooth and continued organisation of the Virāsat Festival.

On this occasion, the organisation’s General Secretary R.K. Singh, Hemant Arora, and other office bearers were present.
