Teamwork, Discipline and Fitness of Forest Officers are Commendable: Governor
The grand finale of the 28th All India Forest Sports Meet–2025 was held today at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd.), who graced the event as the Chief Guest, congratulated all participating teams, officials, and the organising committee for the successful conduct of the event. A total of 42 teams from various States, Union Territories, and national institutions participated in the competition.
Chhattisgarh secured the Overall Championship by winning the highest number of medals, while Kerala stood second. Uttarakhand secured 6th place overall, while also achieving 1st place in the inaugural ceremony March Past parade. In the women’s category, Uttarakhand’s Jyoti Joshi was awarded the Best Athlete title.
During the closing ceremony, the Governor congratulated all winning and participating teams. Praising the outstanding performance of the 42 teams and 3380 participants, he said that the event exemplifies the energy, discipline, teamwork, and dedication of forest officers and personnel across the nation. He added that hosting this prestigious competition in Uttarakhand is a moment of pride for the State.
The Governor highlighted that the sacred land of Uttarakhand—renowned for its biodiversity, Himalayan natural wealth, and environmental heritage—has always inspired nature lovers and sports enthusiasts from across the country.
He noted that forest officers work in challenging and diverse geographical conditions, making fitness, endurance, and mental strength essential. He said that this sports festival not only showcases physical capabilities but also strengthens camaraderie, collaboration, discipline, and team spirit.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Fit India Movement’, the Governor said that fitness is not merely a personal goal but a national responsibility. He said that the active participation of forest officers and employees powerfully reinforces the spirit of Fit India.
Forest Minister Shri Subodh Uniyal congratulated all forest personnel for the successful organisation and announced that all medal winners from Uttarakhand would be honoured separately. Nodal Officer of the All India Forest Sports Meet–2025, Shri P. K. Patro, presented the event report to the Chief Guest and delivered the vote of thanks.
Principal Secretary (Forest) Uttarakhand, Shri R. K. Sudhanshu, praised the event’s organisation and expressed gratitude to all participants. He also highlighted the innovative initiative “Khel Van”, under which approximately 1500 saplings have been planted in the names of medal winners, extending heartfelt congratulations to the entire forest fraternity.
The ceremony was attended by MLA Smt. Savita Kapoor, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests Uttarakhand Dr. Sameer Sinha, distinguished guests, and players from across the country.
