    Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) participated today in the “Yogdhara” programme organized at the historic St. George’s College, Mussoorie. The event was held to commemorate 25 years of Uttarakhand Statehood, 150 years of service of the Patrician Brothers in India, and the occasion of Children’s Day.

    On this occasion, the Governor felicitated teachers for their outstanding contributions and students for their notable achievements in various fields. Children of the school presented captivating cultural performances showcasing the rich culture of Uttarakhand.

    Addressing the students, the Governor said that success always comes to the courageous and hard-working. A person who fears hard work can never reach great heights. He urged children to dream big, build their foundation on self-confidence, and move forward with the spirit of “Nation First.” He remarked that children are the future of India, and the youth will play a decisive role in making the nation a Viksit Bharat during the Amrit Kaal.

    Highlighting the present era as one dominated by AI and technology, the Governor encouraged students to advance in these fields. He said challenges should not be feared but learned from, as the process of learning is what makes a person truly exceptional. He further advised children to cultivate humility, discipline, and respect for all in their lives.

    Expressing gratitude to teachers, the Governor said that teachers are the invisible architects of the nation, whose knowledge, guidance, and sacrifice shape future generations. He added that the true purpose of education is not just to secure employment but to build character and nurture responsible citizens. The Governor praised St. George’s College for its distinguished legacy of quality education, exemplary discipline, and high moral values, which have earned it a remarkable identity in India and abroad over the decades.

    Present on the occasion were Mussoorie Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani, College Principal Brother Jayaseelan, teachers, students, and parents of St. George’s College.
